Machine Quilt Pricing

I have a pricing structure based on the size of the quilt top itself. The prices below are in Australian dollars..

Calculating the size of the quilt top
I calculate the size of the quilt top by measuring the length and width of the quilt in meters and multiplying it to get a figure based on square meterage.

For example: The length of the top is 1.8m and the width is 1.2m.
I multiply 1.8 x 1.2 and come up with a figure of 2.16 sq m.

Once the size of the quilt top is calculated then the cost of the quilting is going to be based on the prices below:

Edge to edge quilting
Stitched on the Statler machine

 $60 from per square metre

Preparation charge
eg. where the backing needs joining, or where I have to “prepare” quilt top and/or backing in order to get it loaded onto the machine.

 $40 per hour

Wadding: I carry Matilda’s wool/poly wadding, 240cm wide. You can supply your own or I will supply it.
I also have cotton, bamboo and wool wadding

Backing I carry a limited range of backing fabric, but I am happy to source it for you.

Binding: I am happy to bind your quilt for you.  I machine the binding to the quilt and then hand sew the binding down.

 $45 per hour

Minimum charge:

 $75

I use Rasant or Aurifil threads, depending on colours available and/or your preference.  Thread cost is included in the quilting cost.  Specialty threads can be supplied – just ask.  Costings will be determined on a per quilt basis.

This all looks very complicated but it really isn’t.  However, I am happy to talk about it over the phone or by email if you would prefer.

I will accept cash, paypal and direct deposit within Australia.  International orders will be requested to use money order or paypal.  Any postage is at cost.
